The customer's problem was capital, not engagement
Hospitality has high staff turnover. When new staff don't engage with the maintenance system, scheduled preventive maintenance goes undone. Equipment wears out early and the hotel replaces HVAC units, elevators and kitchen equipment sooner than it should. Training costs climb at the same time.
So the goal wasn't "make the app fun." It was to get frontline staff doing the scheduled work, so customers stop spending capital early. Engagement was how we'd get there.
What it does
Associate Engagement is built into Transcendent, Actabl's hotel asset management platform. It turns routine maintenance into measurable achievements through gamification, self-tracking and recognition. Engineers raise their score by completing work orders efficiently and to brand standards, and see how they rank among their peers. Leaders see each site, and the individual engineers at those sites.
Result
Associate Engagement is live across customer sites and improves how maintenance teams perform there.
Sites using Associate Engagement ran 2–3x higher scheduled-item compliance than sites without it.Actabl blog, April 2025. I pulled the data: weekly usage over three months.
How to read that number. It compares sites with the module against sites without it, not the same sites before and after. A comparison between sites can't rule out that adopting sites were already better run, which is why I state it as exactly what it is and nothing more.
